To put it simply, we take the stress out of applying for college.  Guiding students and families through the often overwhelming and stressful path to college is our area of expertise.  We provide honest and knowledgeable advice while empowering students to help them make the best higher education decisions. We offer a comprehensive college selection, admissions, and financial aid services to provide high school students with everything they need to prepare solid college applications.

Student
Comprehensive College Planning Services 

For families who are new to the college search, selection, and application process. Comprehensive College Planning can start as early as freshman year in high school, but usually no later than the second semester of the junior year.  It includes unlimited consultations - office visits, telephone calls and emails. Services may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Establishing a timeline for the college planning process

  • Student interest assessments; student and parent questionnaires

  • Curriculum assessment and selection of high school classes

  • Encouragement of student towards meaningful high school activities

  • Access to individual career direction and learning style assessments

  • Clear explanation of admissions procedures: Early Action, Single Choice Early Action, Early Admission, Early Decision, Rolling Admission, etc.

  • Development of a plan for when to take which standardized tests 

  • Development of a list of colleges to research and visit that is specific to your student and balanced for low, medium and high chance of admissions, as well as a final application list

  • College visit and research advising

  • Improvement of interviewing skills for on-campus and alumni interviews

  • Brainstorming essay topics and personal statements 

  • Critiques of college essays and activity resume

  • Focus on providing for Learning Differences, if required

  • Discussion of recruiting for athletics and the arts, if required 

  • Discussion of acceptance choices, once all college replies have been received

  • Discussion of financial aid options and strategies

  • Discussion of easing the transition to college 

Hourly College Planning Services 

Hourly College Planning services provide time, either face-to-face, email, or phone, and including appropriate research, to be used by the client for any of the following services: 

 

  • Establishing a timeline for the college planning process

  • College visit and research advising

  • Improvement of interviewing skills for on-campus and alumni interviews

  • Development of activity resumes

  • Guidance on college essays 

  • Application management guidance

  • Assistance with transfer student planning

  • Assistance with “gap year” student planning

  • Financial Aid and scholarship advising

  • Career and Major assessment

free Consultation 

There is no charge for an initial 30-minute consultation.  Consultations will take place via online video technology and require the attendance of student and one parent.  This is an informal discussion with you and your student to explain my services, as well as a chance to determine if we are a good fit for each other.
